Ingredients

½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1 cup packed basil leaves, chopped OR 1 tablespoon of dried basil

Extra virgin olive oil (for bread)

6 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp. kosher salt

1 loaf whole grain bread or loaf, sliced

½ cup olive oil

½ cup fresh oregano, chopped OR 2 teaspoons of dried oregano

1 medium red onion, finely chopped

4 cans (14.5 oz. each) Hunt's® Stewed Tomatoes, well drained

Directions

  • Step 1

    Pre-heat oven to 325° F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, spraying it with PAM® cooking spray.
  • Step 2

    Place drained tomatoes in a large bowl and combine with olive oil, basil, oregano, garlic, onion, salt and pepper.
  • Step 3

    Spread tomato mixture evenly across the aluminum lined baking sheet.
  • Step 4

    Bake for 1.5 hours, mixing the tomatoes half way through.
  • Step 5

    Place in a glass bowl and allow to come to room temperature.Lightly brush bread with extra olive oil.Toast slices of bread.Evenly spread the tomato mixture on top of toasted bread.
  • Step 6

    Add more olive oil and salt as desired.
